Well Done Scouts!! This weekend certainly tested your resilience with such challenging weather. Bravooo to Brianna, Lucas, Zara, Skye and Luka on their first scout overnight hike! A huge thanks to Jo and Mark for leading the Scouts in tough conditions.
A great effort by scouts on Sunday with a 10km paddle up Middle Harbour. A BIG shout out to Leaders Jo & Mark; Steve Mac for arranging the route and parent helpers Natasha & Henry for joining the expedition! I led a bushwalk in Garigal National Park for my Grey Wolf Hike. At the start the cubs followed my track signs I laid with sticks and rocks. They then followed me through the bush, and when we got to a fork in the track, I gave them a compass bearing, so they knew which way to go.
The Scouts enjoyed abseiling on the weekend at Lindfield Rocks, and although there were some nervous scouts for their first abseil, they all completed at least five 5 abseils, and so have earned their abseiling proficiency badge . Congratulations to all of you! A big thank you to our team of Scout volunteers who helped make Australia Day lunch for the masses at Warringah Aquatic Centre: Jo for making the arrangements; and Annabel & Henry; Michelle & Josh; David & Ewan; Sarah & James; Isaac & Liam for helping out & giving up your Australia day - we hope you had some fun and have recovered from the heat. The 25th Australian Jamboree (AJ2019) was held from 4th January to the 14th January 2019 at the The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia. Eleven Belrose Scouts were members of troop #C546 along with Scouts from Lane Cove, Meadowbank, North Sydney, Sailors Bay and Waitara.
Departure Photo (green grass) and arrival photo (dirt!). They still look pretty bright...despite the long bus trip to Adelaide. |
